SPEAKER DESIGN PACKAGE
A designed by Russell Storey from Stones Sound Studio using LEAP 5
Pro speaker is a very comprehensive package which is developed from your or
(our recommended) choice of speaker drivers wood materials high quality
crossover components and low loss internal crossover cable.
We work closely with your feedback by phone or email to develop a custom
speaker system that will satisfy all your requirements.
SPEAKER DESIGN REQUIREMENTS:
The Enclosure shape size, driver type, driver position, actually work in conjunction with the Crossover circuit design and physical component layout ,type of internal cable and type of speaker cable plus Amplifier to create on large complex circuit which must be taken into account to design not just good but excellent high definition speakers. Many years of experience in the high end speaker design industry assist in achieving a super dynamic speaker system design for any of your custom applications be it Digital Home Theatre Movies ,Home Theatre Music ,SCAD Door Analogue record reproduction of sound .
ENCLOSURE DESIGN
The Enclosure
(cabinet) shape size and your preferred room location and even type of music or
Home theatre music and movie preferences are taken into account in the design of
the speaker cabinet an application based on a quick sketch of your room shape
and preferred seating position. The shape of the enclosure (cabinet) front
baffle edges normally either square ,round or chamfered are modelled in Leap 5
Enclosure designer in conjunction with the physical position of the
driver/drivers on the front baffle board . The optimum location for the drivers
is computed in 3D space to give the minimum edge diffraction i.e. interference
between the driver radiating source (the cone) and the cabinet edges.
At the same time the distance between each driver (driver to port, driver to
tweeter, driver to midrange, driver to bass) is optimized to give the best
frequency response with minimum distortion and group delay. Internal cabinet
shape and its effect on the speaker driver and port are also incorporated into
the design optimisation process By optimizing the intermodulation or
(interference) between all of the acoustic sound sources we can thus minimise
the speaker enclosure system mechanical distortions. The result is tight clean
dynamic bass mids and top end to die for
CROSSOVER DESIGN
All of the above
Leap 5 Enclosure data is then imported into the Leap 5 Crossover designer so
that we are using the speaker driver + cabinet to develop the passive (or
active) crossover circuit .The individual speaker driver X,Y,Z (acoustic
offset position) on the front baffle, LMS measured impedance, frequency
response, and thiel and small parameters (from our speaker data base or your
speaker) are used to develop the optimum speaker system phase,impedance,and
frequency characteristics giving a very flat frequency and linear phase
response with minimum group delay across the 10hz to 40khz region.
Even real capacitor ,resistor and inductors measurements are imported into the
crossover designer program so as to take into account their effect on the
electrical response of the crossover circuit and driver network .( most
design programs substitute synthetic components) thus giving loss errors in the
final design. Using this crossover design technique results in a fast transient
response crossover network that is in sync with the speaker drivers achieving
excellent low level detail dynamic range sound stage fast tight articulate bass
mid and top end with extremely low distortion, minimum broad band phase error
and group delay.
